As if Dolores Chili wasn’t amazing enough, you can get it for FREE this January 27, 2015. Historic Los Angeles eatery, Philippe the Original, will be handing out free cups of chili with the purchase of any sandwich, beginning at 10:30 a.m. to the first 500 guests to arrive. Guests wishing to participate in the fifth annual Free Chili Day will receive a voucher at either of Philippe’s two main entrances, which can be redeemed at the counter for a cup of chili with or without your favorite toppings; like cheddar cheese or onions.  This Dolores-sponsored event has become a favorite in the L.A. area, and will not only include free chili but also some great giveaway items from both Dolores and Philippe.

Philippe’s (pronounced fil-LEEPS) opened its doors in 1908 and stands strong as the true inventor of the French Dip Sandwich. It has been at its current location since 1951, and Dolores Chili has been served at Philippe for decades. Philippe the Original is located at 1001 N. Alameda St., one block north of historic Union Station, and is open from 6 a.m. to 10 p.m. daily.

Dolores Chili is made at Dolores Canning Co., which operates out of its East Los Angeles plant, and is a Hispanic family-owned business. For more information, visit
